The Third Book of Madrigals by Carlo Gesualdo, Prince of Venosa, was published in Ferrara in 1595 by Vittorio Baldini, who had also printed the First and Second Books. Gesualdo published six books of madrigals during his lifetime, as well as some sacred music in madrigalian style (for example the Tenebrae Responsories of 1611).
